A Note from the Principal

No child sails through his or her entire school life without at least a few rough waters. Sometimes it’s a classmate who’s causing a problem. Sometimes it’s an issue of how the teacher does something. Sometimes it’s a big misunderstanding or a skewed perception. Sometimes it’s even your child. No matter what the issue, there are some tried and true ways to figure out what’s going on and help your child be successful.

1.       Start with the teacher. A phone conversation to discuss any question or concern you may have is the best first step. You may want to set up a meeting to discuss the situation further if it seems necessary.

2.       Don’t be afraid. Never hesitate to ask the teacher about a question or concern you have. We can’t work toward making something better and resolving things if we don’t know about them. All of us welcome communication with families.

3.       Think positively. We all want the same thing, a successful and enjoyable school experience for your child.

4.       Decide on a solution together. Working together to support your child is in the best interest of your child and will guarantee a positive and productive school experience for him or her.

As always, please know that I have an open door policy and welcome communication with each and every one of you. Working together we can make Dike Newell the best school it can be!
